    Such a cool bird. A little while back, I read this book "Running into the sky" it was about a powered paraglider pilot who was learning to fly. The one thing that stood out in that book was the portability of his powered paraglider. Now trikes have become as portable too. How cool is that!! Take your family for a picnic and bring your aircraft with you too :)

    Abid iam planning to purchace one , later this summer. Ill probably order from frank as i could go see my son in albuquerque. I really like the fuel consuption with the combat wing. How much more difficult is it to fly. I want a double surface wing for penitration , discus looks like a great wing as well. Do you know if you can use any other manufactures wings say solairus or wills wings. One more question does the discus or combat have variable geometry.How does the stichimg and dacron thickness look compared to nw. Sorry that was two questions .

    Cool. I have both the trikes in Florida for now but if you go to Frank to purchase, I can ship it there. I doubt that these ones will remain sitting for too long. Too much interest in them to see that happen but one never knows.

    Isn't it a bit dumb to not wear any head protection while flying, you should be setting an example to new pilots and no helmet is not an example you should be setting. As for the trike it looks like a great little machine and looks as much fun to fly as the British Half Pint and Air Creation's little single seater but much more transportable.

    I agree Lucian. I always do wear a helmet. This is probably one of the 4 times in 16 years of open cockpit flying that I did not. I don't exactly remember the reason from many months ago but I believe it had something to do with trying to have radio contact at the airport by plugging directly into the radio and my Flycom helmet could not directly plug in. I used the headset because it had an adapter that could. It was better choice because at the airport there were possibly other aircraft that could come in and I would like to hear them call in so as to not interfere with their operation.

    Flying without a helmet equates to riding a motorcycle without one. You should, you know there's a risk, but damn it's nice to feel some wind in your hair on occasion.

    Abid. I have a question concerning the aeros ant. At some point iam going to purchace a new soaring trike. But this time iam going to get exactly the package i want. Ive been pretty anbiguously going back and forth between the nw atf and the ant.
    I like the ant for its looks, and compactability. But i also like the atf for its use of larger wheels.
    As far as wings iam a little hesitant on the size of the aeros wings. 16.5 solairus would be more ideal for the type of flying i like and the big moutains i fly. Also i am a little more concerned ordering a wing from over seas.
    So here is the questions not question (sorry)
    I already have a polini thor 250 engine.
    What would the cost to me be ordering the ant carrage minus the engine?
    Can the ant accept the solairus wing ?
    Looking at the hook in loading i believe the solairus is a bit beefier on hook in weight .
    Concidering my imposable ability to loose weight and my nurotic impulse to go get lipo suction and tell them to just take it all. I cant seem to get below 220lbs hook in weight.
    I would also like your advice om weather that ant could be fitted with a fair size larger tire.
    I love the looks of flying with the wheels retracted but it looks as if it dosent do much to reduce parasidic drag but it does look like it could be retrofited with some carbon graphite cowling ?

    Iam planning a purchace somewhere after our sandpoint fly in .
    I thought about selling my other trikes to speed up my finacial process but my wife likes to fly as well.
    As an x hangie i really cant see why more people who just want to fly for fun ,or are aging hangies that want to have a more convenient way to get up in the cummies arnt looking into these soaring trikes.
    They are so much more safe and convienient and just a blast to fly. If we had the spirit we had in the 70s and80s dealers would be shipping out 10 a day. thanks

    Hi WE:
    I don't know anything about Solarius so I cannot answer that. I have seen the ATF so I can only say ANT is better fit and finish and a better package but ATF is probably just as good at soaring I am sure. Big wheels are nothing but weight and drag and to me on a soaring trike where takeoff roll and landing roll is minimum they don't make sense but you can certainly change them. Its your preference. May be Aeros will do that for you for an extra cost. I would not recommend retracting the wheels for flight. I do not see any advantage and its one more thing that can go wrong if you do not check the wheels are locked on pre-landing checklist. They are mainly for packing the thing small.
    For taking out Thor 250 you'd get a $2750 credit.
    220 pounds is not much of an issue from what I saw.
    10 a year would be even good. The fact is not a single company no matter who it is, is selling 10 new trikes of any kind, 2 seat, single seat or soaring in the US. Whoever tries to tell you that is full of it. If I saw evidence to the contrary, I would be developing a new trike and innovate to take market share. Instead I am developing gyroplanes. I am staying in trikes and still sell them because I love them not because that is what keeps me in business. If and when new trike market surges back, I will do that. Its not even the price. $30k SLSA brand new 582 trikes ... didn't sell either so all this hoopla about they are expensive and that is why I don't fly also has no basis in reality.

    Thanks abid. Iam researching it all . I love power off soaring more than anything. With the ease of transportation. Set up fly thermal or get airtime any good flying day. I simply dont get why these are not just selling like hotcakes. Hang gliding is a pure sport yes but there are lots of obsticles to getting quality air time. Waiting for a driver, finding a site . Getting towed ,waiting for relative wind.
    Back in my hayday in the early 80s i was production codinater for american aerolights. Gosh we were shipping at least 5- 10 eagles a day . I remember that pnm was on my shipping list and they were doing great. Ultralites of austrailia, quicksilver hang glider manufactures were all doing great. What happen , i dont get it.
    These little soaring trikes are soooo much fun to fly. I hear what you say about even a low priced great trike are not moving.
    Its strange because everywhere i fly their are people approaching me and asking me how to get into the sport. I always tell them the full range of options , northwing ,delta jet, revo ,sky cycle. I also tell them the differences between gyro and ppgs.
    I was thinking of selling my redback but u know i paid 15gs for it. I love flying it. Sonya just loves to fly in trikwes. So i decided instead of selling it for a hugh loss ill just save a little longer a get a top of the line new soaring trike with the wing pattern that i have always dreamed of .
    I really wish that the yonger generation could develope the attitude we had in the 70s 80s . Nothing id like more than to see this industry thrive. It just has so much to say about freedom.
