David, I liked your Yosemite Hanggliding video on vimeo. It was great, but a little pixelated. Do you have a higher res copy?

No problem landing at Yosemite, there is a huge meadow going down the center. The only downer would be the rangers confiscating your trike.

Hey David O, Here is that message that you wanted and got lost >>

    "Hey Dave,
Was it you that sent the notification about what does the ELSA Jan 31st expiration mean? Once you click on the notification, it goes away, and there's no way to see it again, or reply.
Anyway, if it was you, many (most?) ELSAs had airworthiness certificates that were not open ended like most aircraft- These ELSA's (like mine did) have an expiry date of 1/31/2010. That date is now coming up!!! If the expiry date is not amended, then apparently the airworthiness can NEVER be renewed period!!! So it is something you HAVE TO do (I did it a couple months ago, and it's not that hard, I can send you some emails with examples of the paperwork). Part of the amendment is that ELSA's can no longer be used for commercial training (i.e., you as an owner can't fly students (or tourist "students") on a daily basis in your ELSA- you will need to buy a more stringently regulated SLSA to do that). (However, if you the student owns the ELSA, you CAN continue to be trained in your ELSA by hiring an instructor (who doesn't own your ELSA) to teach you how to fly it, you just can't train anyone else for hire in your ELSA). The need for commercial operators to change from ELSA to SLSA is a harsh one, and the FAA realized too late that many weren't going to be able to- so they started back pedaling and proposed the LODA (Letter Of Deviation Authority) a couple months ago. It was supposed to work like this- EVERYONE who has an expiry date of 1/31/2010 MUST STILL have their paperwork amended to remove that expiration date- part of doing so, means changing your Op limitations to say that no commercial training can be done. Once you have done that, then you would have applied for a LODA to be allowed for some unknown period of time to continue training in your ELSA. Two things to know about LODA- 1) The first step in getting the LODA is to change your operating lmitiations and extend your expiry date (just as you would if you were NOT going to continue training commercially with it). Once you have done that, you could have then applied for the LODA. 2) The LODA (or as Ole calls it the LODA-BS (or "Load of BS", s earch for his posts here about LODA-BS for more info) has now been stalled by bureaucracy and is not currently available. The end result is whether you want a LODA or not, you will end up with an EATULO (eat a low- Expensive And Totally Useless Lawn Ornament) that will not be able to fly legally EVER in the US if you do not fix your 1/31/201 expiry date. In which case, I would like to purchase your EATULO for cheap to use in Mexico.

p.s. This is all pretty confusing FAA stuff, and if I have any of it wrong, please correct me."
