Abid: I will post a pic later but I use a RAM Mount on the compression strut with the iPad in landscape position. It brings the iPad out a bit from the panel which is good and does not get in the way of the control bar or block any panel ...

I use a full size iPad on my Delta Jet 2 and with bar mitts and inner gloves (with thumb and forefinger cut out). I like the metal rivet idea.

Another ironic coincidence, like the one last week about the R-44 crash. Just read this one about trailering: http://www.innovator.mosquito.net.nz/mbbs2/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=3315&posts=3 After reading the recent article concerning the ...

There are two issues. Both are similar and involve metal fatigue. The vibration and bending cycles during transport are much worse than people think. There are many threads on this subject. Several times I’ve posted a story from an airshow ...

Ah! Got it. Thank you for the explanation. Since you have experience here, I've seen people use short struts WITH the wing mounted and a few inches just above the ground. Saw one that pushed up into an enclosed trailer that way for transport. I'll ...

You have to be careful transporting trikes with the engine mounted on the mast. The one in the photo is not a problem. When you fold the mast down partially or completely (mast horizontal) the engine, if unsupported, can bounce between the to ...

Wait, whu? Chuck could you please elaborate on your comment? I wanted to build up one of these as well but I'm hesitant now. Enlighten me! Your saying that a short mast on a GTE is a bad idea?

Only travel with a short strut on a non-engine mounted mast. I should have died...but alas I got to live (through-wall crack in the mast I almost missed on pre-flight back in the early 80's).

I also bolted the pod to the float mounting bracket with a tang that holds it in place and keeps it from bouncing as well.

    Hey Todd,
I saw you joined the Tanarg Triker's group today! Awesome!
Thanks for the help with the Enigma panel- it is a lot of work to switch- better to get it stock I'd say. It's about 90% wired in now (so many harnesses to make, engine, radio, comm, transponder, etc). I'll have info and pictures to share with anyone who wants to know how I did it- also I collected a lot of the technical details and drawings in one location now.
Anyway, I hope to be in the air again soon- it's possible it could be just before sunset tonight if things go smoothly today. Have some great flights yourself.

Congrats Todd! I bet it was awesome for you. We'll have to all get together for some flying soon. There is 3 of us around MB, SC. I had emailed Jonny T about getting my check ride this fall. Still had not set a date for that. It would of been a good weekend for flying here in Myrtle Beach but I had to do the yard sale thing & I strained my back putting in a new hot water heater. Shouldn't of carried it myself. Congrats again!!

Hi Todd, You can't get any better instruction than from Terri--top notch gentleman! Yes, the Clipper is sold and new owner, James Mauch, is located in Louisville. He'll be receiving his new bird next week if the weather cooperates. He has 25 hours of training, so I should be able to get him up and going rather quickly.

Keep in mind asking Terri to come to Greensboro for some of your latter training. The cost can be split between others requiring his services. I've also got Jonny Thompson coming to our area soon, and he is a loooong time pilot/instructor from Currituck. Fly high, Doug

Pleasure was ours Doug. I will be in Lynchburg next weekend and plan to catch a flight with Terri Sipantzi and check out his operation. My guess is that I will begin my sport pilot license training so any thoughts you might have on best place to do that would be appreciated. Kevin speaks highly of Terri. Did you sell your Clipper we saw last weekend? Todd
