Riz, did you say 10 years old? I don't think I would, like Damien, take up a 2 year old, but, heck, most 10 year olds are pretty big kids, and have plenty of ability to keep their heads on and straight (I am speaking metaphorically) in the ...

Okay Larry, you'd better send me one of those. Dang! Candy, candy, candy. You keep making irresistible candy. What's a guy to do? It never ends. My trike keeps getting better and better.

We use a very thin metal (stainless I think) tape on the outer 30cm leading edges, used as a sacrificial tape it adds protections against stone chips etc. A real hell of a job to get on without bubbles or creases, cuts like a razor if you slide your ...

Thanks for the input guys. I guess a soft and sacrificial cushion, to absorb the energy of small impacts, makes pretty good sense.

Consider the tape a disposable item and a protective piece. A lot easier to replace tape than file and filling the leading edge. If in doubt about using it look at the leading edge on a GA metal prop. And metal is harder than a composite prop. All ...

Good questions ! I had my first chip which needed repair after about 2 weeks. This could be coincidental. Helicis shipped me some black powder to mix in with the Alradite resin they recommended as to match the color of the prop. Also included with ...

"Glade Montgomery" commented on Bob Lemke's Blog "Joy and frustrations of a student pilot".
Hang in there Bob. My solo was at about 22 hours, and I was glad for every dual-hour behind me as I first ascended alone. At a couple of points during that first solo I was, indeed, wishing that I'd had a few more dual-hours behind me. It's not ...

Thomas, I am glad you are also enjoying an e-Prop. I thank you for the tip on the leading-edge tape, but I'll confess it leaves me feeling a bit confused. The reason is because, on its website, Helicis brags about "Nanostrength" leading edge ...

Amazing prop indeed. Even when I take off at density alt 4200, I really have to reduce power to make it stop climbing if I am just staying in pattern. You may consider adding some leading edge protective film. Helicis in Frances sent me some 3M ...

This is is my Revo with brand-new e-Prop propeller. It's amazing. Larry had told me to expect significantly increased thrust and monumentally smoother rotation (in particular, as compared to the two-blade Sensenich). He was not kidding. ...

What a great story, and what a great telling of it. I just love the picture in my mind's eye of Deano flying at the tail of all that fencing pulled into the air. Thanks Bryan. Did you guys get charged with having to pay for destruction of ...

Phil, the piece you referenced is indeed excellent. It does an excellent job of distinguishing between the notion that turning in a constantly-moving mass of air has any aerodynamic effect (it positively does not), versus the many real perils that ...

"Glade Montgomery" commented on Rizwan Bukhari's Blog "80hp vs 100hp trike".
I think the extra 20 hp enhances enjoyment and safety. More acceleration is more fun. Climbing faster is more fun. With more hp, there is less chance of failing to climb out at a sufficient rate (and clear obstacles) from a short field, ...

About

I live in Washington state (flying out of KSHN) and began flying trikes in 2011. I first purchased an Air Creation Buggy, and have now moved up to a beautiful Revo.

Thanks for your 912iS report Glade. For some reason I can't comment on the blog (no idea why; the comment box just doesn't show up underneath it). I just wanted to say thanks (and that I'm glad I didn't volunteer to be the first 912iS guinea pig! :))
