My new trike. This is Airborne XT 912. My first trike was an Airborne Edge 582, then I had a Northwing Navajo and now back to Airborne. Ain't she pretty :D

    Congrats Riz!
With its compact fairing and fabric skirt, is the Airborne XT 912 lighter than the usual 912 trikes? Which wing do you have?
Since you have gained experience of flying many different trikes, a comparative review would be welcome!

    Thanks Job and Tony,

Job, this trike was love at first sight :D, The first time I saw the picture, I just loved the colors and had to have it. It is SLSA, has a transponder too. And was a turn key unit. Very well maintained by a CFI who also is an A & P mechanic. The weight for this XT 912 according to the manual is 492 pounds (I have no idea what other 912s weigh) My first trike was an Airborne Edge 582 and I believe it was at 432 pounds and my Northwing Navajo with HKS combination was about 525 pounds.

The wing on this trike is a Streak 3. I have NOT flown this trike yet, despite about 170 hours of flying time (under my belt), I am waiting (till Spring 2017) to get some transition training (safety is paramount).

If money was NOT an object then the Air Creation Tanarg would be my first choice. I flew one once and loved how well designed and spacious it felt. As far the wings, one of my all time favorite was Aeros Stream on a Aerotrike Cobra, a great all round wing. But for me the most fun factor was a 19 meter wing on my Northwing Navajo because the wing flew so slow just like a parachute...definitely a lot of fun.

Since half of my 170 hours were logged in an Airborne Edge X trike. My new XT 912 trike feels more familiar then any other trike. I hope to keep it for a long time.

Thanks for your well wishes :)

Thanks Thomas and Tony...Now, I am thinking what to name this bird (Not Red Baron and definitely Not black widow) :D Any suggestions? anyone?

    The Rizwan Cimarron...
It is the Cheyenne word for "Wild"...Although, if it's a person's name, it means "Wild One"....it can also be used to describe someone that has a VERY free spirit & cannot & will not be tamed by anyone; Free-Spirited....Also, someone who's completely different from everyone else; beyond the norm intelectually, artistically, socially, and/or in mindset...A Cimarron can also be someone who moves from place to place freely and willingly, without being forced to do so, also considered a "Maverick"....also someone who fights back, mostly about what he/she believes in or thinks is right; sometimes considered a Fighter.

Pushpuka is a beautiful name and arguably, it was the first aircraft, ever!
Or 'Garuda' if you like something more aggressive. However, where you are, not many people would know that!
    So I suggest 'Scarlet Tanager'.
Since the wing has more black than red, you may also consider, 'Scarlet Raven'.

    Rizzilla :-) ...

A Cimarron in Spanish is a bumble bee kind of flying thing ... but stings!

Rizzy, you don't need transition training to fly Streak III wing. It is one of the best double surface wing Airborn ever made. Very natural and easy wing. I don't know why you need to wait for spring to fly it.

Rizzy beautiful trike, I agree with Henry . I have quite a few hours in an XT with Streak III wing and I found that wing to be very well-behaved, go out and fly that beautiful bird.

Thanks Rebekah, Job and Tony for all the wonderful name suggestions :D Very creative, some of them forced me to do some research to get their meaning. I thought of some too, probably little darker Red Raven, Diablo. :D

Henry and Joe, I agree with you and especially after flying single surface wings for a while, I think this wing will be behave better and more predictable but still for me this is new, 912 is significantly more power than I am used to. In addition I have some parts on order. Carb gaskets are already changed. The other day I noticed two fuel lines with minor cracks and some fuel drops leaking so for me the next task is to change all the fuel lines. I still have to install the antenna and ordered a mount for it too.

I will attempt to fly it once these small safety items are taken care of.

Thank you for your input. Rizzy

I am going to call it "The Dragon" because it is a fast trike, I was also born in the year of the Dragon :)
