Any of you have opinions other than the high $$? Anyone flying with this configuration? was engine mounting an issue, and which prop would have the lowest noise for the setup? Thanks in advance. white eagle The only prop that iam familiar is the ultra prop which cuts down the vibration much more than a wood prop and the broglia 4 blade i have on my redback.I want to get a cintrifical prop. Once again joe has a lot more knowlege than i do on props! Gosh i hate to make his head any tighter in that hang glider helmet he uses. But as long as he has his nightly glass of uh uh fine wine and a good relaxing session with his pet froggy it seems to take down the cranial inflamation! Sounds like you dont get much ridgelift or glass off convergance as we get here in the west. Just so injoyable milking a moderatly smooth liftband with a pair of golden eagles. But i dont see why with the fuel consumption and capasity of the polini engines were xc hops cant be enjoyed witha soaring trike. I like a little of both worlds. You probably heard of joes and john and my plan to fly mt mc donald peak. Pretty incredable place to fly but its really good to have enough engine to get you up there .

white eagle Kevin i have a polini thor 250. I can tell you after researching engines with my friend joe hockman and flying a sky cycle with a g-25 engine. A little less engine than the mz-34. I dont know your pilot weight bit what i can tell you is that flying a under achieving engine resulting in a poor climb rate is a real drag and increases your risks. The polini thor has some very specific and smart tech for a 2 cycle high output engine. You will find that the counter balanced stroke will lengthen the life of your motor, result in a much more smooth vibration free operation. Liquid cooled will also add to the life of the engine. But i think for is soaring heads the biggest plus is its light weight fuel efficiant, and produces optimum power. I would say iam pretty impressed with this motor. In the beginning i think it had a few production issues but i think those are being worked out.. its used on many ppgs and includeing larry mednicks rev. Kameron belvins has used the polini 200 on the atf and will certainly provide you the motormount application for your atf. The motor mounting requirements for the thor 250 are the same as the 200. I think you will be quite impressed with this engine certainly much better than mz.

white eagle You also may want to talk with joe hockman as he used to have an atf and is very knowlegable on these engines.

Kevin Byler Hi WE, thanks for the advice. Yes Joe is a good guy, (don't tell him I said that, his helmet is already getting too tight), ;-) with good knowledge. I met him several years ago, before I got my ATF and have flown with him a few times. I also have a hang gliding background and was hoping to do some soaring with the ATF, however the smooth air and long XC flights are starting to appeal to me more than fighting the midday thermals and getting tossed around. (Have a much bigger bump tolerance in my HG) I like the power of the MZ34, but have had some issues with high temps and feel like I'm always on the edge of the limits. What prop are you using on the Thor? I have heard that some have less noise than others. Still researching that.
