Frank Dempsey Ok, brushed teeth and invaded the Albuquerque Channel $ News session this morning. I think two trikes made the grade, Damien Beresford and I. A Gyro guy was there with his novelty trophy from Oshkosh so he got some face-time but everyone loves the trikes. The trikes will make a firm presence on Saturday morning in the air and on the ramp at the airshow at Double Eagle airport so came out if you can. It should be a bastard for the tower with 100+ planes attending but it's always fun to get into the traffic when it's busy, if nothing else just to say that you did it. Glad I have a hanger there with beer. EAA posted an advertisement sign at Roosevelt Jr High, 35 miles away. Guess they're really pushing the event....Well, so am I. Frank Dempsey I use the Spot tracker when ever I leave the pattern. Just turn it on. It's has a 911 button that you just push the button an a helicopter/ambulance is on the way. There is a help button too that allows us to pre-define a long list of cell phones and emails in the case that you go down somewhere and need non-emergency help. It also has an OK button that you can push when you land to let the Old Lady know you made it. All of this for around $150/year. You can even add insurance to pay for search and rescue for another $20. I read that when Reb Wallace went down, the way Search and Rescue found the crash site was by triangulating the last cell phone transmission that was made at the crash site. It took many hours to find them. Imagine if they had a spot. Something you might think about especially for those cold winter solo flights. You should make your spot tracks public so people can find your location real time whilst your away. Here's mine. http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0eEL4n6UEvL2XtCW6S52ydJi4uEeqeWTH

Right. The MZ202 is another failure, in my opinionated opinion. My friend, Roger Hooker had a Butterfly 103 Gyro with the MZ on it. 65 HP is a good thing but In less that 50 hours, it blew a plug out of the socket. Roger put it down safely and he's ...

Friends don't let friends fly Hirth's. Man, I've seen a lot of trouble with that one. John Cortesy went down over the Grand Canyon with his wife. It blew a plug out of it's socket. They glided to the rim for safety. He was high. Later, he flew that ...

Nice video Jeff. Looks like you guys have a vertical mount to drop the GoPro down. How did you do that. Guess I'll see you at Angel Fire next week and find out.

Reb was a friend. I got my CFI with Reb back in 2004 in Rodeo, NM with Neil Bungard. Reg was first and quick. My exam was a good 8 hours. I was sure I was going to fail. Reg knew it all. Over the years, Reb and I went to DPE positions. Reb ...

"Frank Dempsey" commented on Rizwan Bukhari's Blog "How do you SLSA certify a brand new trike".
It's nice to have a manufacturer to work with you as it's possible in certain cases to upgrade from an ELSA to an SLSA. I did with the help of the manufacturer, Mr. Abid Farooqui of Silverlight Aviation on my 2009 Apollo Delta Jet 912S. Right now, ...
