Charlie Peck The think that makes me the most uncomfortable about adding a return line is that then, you would have to put in a relief valve to keep fuel pressure up to where it should be, and added hoses and lines, etc. Just more complications and additional parts that can fail. I like to keep things simple if possible.

Abid Farooqui Not a relief valve Charlie. On the return line side barb, there is an idle jet restrictor with a very tiny hole in it

Charlie Peck Thanks for the link, Abid. I took a look at it, and that's a new one on me. I don't fly in hot weather, so I've never had a reason for concern about vapor lock. Keep up with the good information.

"Charlie Peck" commented on Rizwan Bukhari's Blog "Mechanical vs Electric fuel pump on a 912 80hp".
I guess I must be out of the loop on all this stuff, but my 912 80 hp never had a return line on the fuel pump when it came new from the factory in 2007. But after a few years, I did have a problem with my carbs overflowing with fuel. I did ...

About

I live in North Central Washington State, in the Okanogan Valley about 20 miles south of the Canadian border. I have an Airborne XT 912 Outback with a Cruze wing. My trike is equippped with GPS, and I carry a locator beacon and survival gear. I took flight instruction from Carl Ryder. Carl gives lessons in two locations in Washington State, Concrete and Richland. I took training in both of these locations, and I will always be indebted to him for providing me a comprehensive background for many different combinations of weather and mountain flying. The terrain in this area is very vast and rugged. In the hot summer weather, flying is challenging because of the mountain winds and large thermal activity. In the winter, it gets very cold but the air is smoother. I have skis for my trike so I can take off and land in snowy fields, pastures and frozen lakes. There aren't any other trikers but myself located here, but the conventional pilots at Tonasket Municipal Airport W01 have been very supportive and welcoming to me since I arrived here about three years ago. If you ever want to experience something really different, and see some amazing and beautiful country, come fly in the Okanogan Valley.
