in the 'fast' position (an oxymoronic use of the word 'fast' with this wing!)

Hi Monty, it's not the right assembly for the safety cable. It must pass behind the kingpost but not under the keel !

looking at the washout rod Gilles, do you think there may be a bit too much twist in the wing tip? im not familiar with this wing so maybe im wrong. Any more pics of the wing from the side monty?

Thanks Giles. I'll rectify that tomorrow.I've always wanted a racer for 20 yrs, now I finally have one, I can barely fly it due to the bar too far away! (at trim). Wax i'll post more picks.

Giles does the safety cable pass over or under the pull-back cables?

    Extract from manual.
When connecting the trike, slip the security fastening cable into the security strap at the king post level, make a turn backward around the king post, slip it again through the security strap, and then fix it on the upper beam of the trike. The security cable should pass under the tensioning cables. This operation secures connecting of the trike as well as fastening of the crossbar tensioning system.

    Regards

    Phil

Thanks phill, I didn't take the manual with me when I assembled the trike, while I'm blessed with an excellent memory, it doesn't last long when exposed to the air.

I have electronic copies on my tablet that I also use as a gps (sat nav) so I always have all the info with me at the time, don't help me fly straight though

could that security cable be causing the bar to go forward???? looks pretty tight and if the trike swings tru after takeoff then it will tighten further. how easy is it to pull the bar in to your chest during flight?

wex i confess the three times i've flown it i have'nt done much but sat there holding my arms out front waiting for the runway to raise up and kiss the tires. i'll do better tomorrow, rain permitting!

Wex it is pulling the bar back that tightens the security wire. Checked mine today cos I demounted my wing the other day and remounted it exactly as had Monty, when I checked the movement of the wing I lost a little rear movement as the wire was too tight. Took it off and remounted as per manual no problems and the bar now moves fully back without gripping. Will take a photo over the weekend.

yeah phillip, you are correct, i noticed that the bar wouldn't touch the seat, i traced it to the safety cable, i looped it in front of the king post mount bolt and then the bar would come back with no interference, i found this before commiting aviation! i built a bar extension see photo, i hope this will enable me to make turns! but i will fit the cable like the book says! theres always something!!!

So true, I don't know but I'm guessing that if the cable wraps around the keel, as in your photo, and there is a hang bracket failure the weight is taken up by the cable but because it's wrapped around the keel would grip the keel holding it in its position making side to side movement difficult if not impossible ..... maybe

yeah phillip, i'll fix it tomorrow, it is gonna rain tomorrow, here, but it will give me time to fit my bar device, and my anti-tip-back-and-destroy-the-prop-bracket! have you ever heard of a hang bracket failure? you could hang a london bus on that 10mm bolt! my cosmos racer had internal heavy cables in mast and keel, joining bolt to bolt. , but if the bolts failed what good would they do? ithink the ac does too.
