Can you believe this crap?
Looks like I might have to burn my SIC after all.
Come January 31 you can stick a fork in us. We will be done here in the Land o' Liberty!

This is very confusing, one the one hand it looks like you have to have your aircraft re-certified only if you are going to use it for training and on the otherhand it looks like we all have to have our E-LSA aircraft re-certified even if we do not use it for training. What's the deal here?

Jan, clearly the deal here is that they want us all standing around on the ground. No more riff-raff in their sky. They own it. So the more silly/useless hoops they can throw up in front of us who just love to fly the more unlikely it becomes that any of us will fly. What I like about it is this crazy acronym. Do you suppose they already had this letter in a file cabinet somewhere? Maybe it's one of those boilerplate documents like the notes-from-yer-mom where you just fill in the blanks? Maybe it was it a pre-concieved acronym? Or did they actially get together in some Ivory Tower somewhere and come up with this crap anew over coffee and doughnuts and then slap each other on the back? They actually did something productive this morning-they grounded a few more of us suckers?
"Well Ed, ya done all right."
"Aw heck Richie, I couldna done it without yer help."
"We got us a real LODA."
    "It's a LODA/BS all right!"
Well, from the viewpoint of someone who just hopes to poke fun at these idiots while he still can, they could not have gotten it better.

Ole, I agree with you about them wanting to control what we do in the sky but from what I read, I am still confufused about if we all have to re-register our airworthy certificate before the end of Jan 2010.

A friend of mine bought a trike with a airworthy cert. with the Jan. 2010 expiration date. He made an appointment with our local FSDO, walked in with the Jan expiration and walked out with a certificate with the " Unlimited " date. He said it was no big deal, other than a day off work and driving there.

Well good for your buddy Dave... So is it still a trainer or not? That is the big favor they're gonna do us with the LODA/BS if we jump through their hoops. That is what Pablo is working on but I don't think he wants to talk to me about it.

Was a trainer, now it is not. I was explaining to Jan, what he had to do, if his trike airworthy date expires Jan / 10 and he doesn't want to use it for instruct. But if he does want to use it to instruct, well- best of luck.
