Tanarg Oil Temperature / Heat issue:
On the left is the thermal fabric on the oil canister. I removed it
to promote air flow to the canister wall (after all, Rotax
specifically designed the oil return to the canister to swirl
against the cool canister wall, and a thermal blanket defeats this
purpose)
I replaced the fabric with a sheet metal shroud wrapped around the
canister- leaving an air gap between the canister wall and the
shroud, but still keeping any luggage off the hot canister. I was
very careful to make sure there were no sharp edges on the sheet
metal (to cut oil lines), and covered the edges after filing them
smooth with duct tape.
