About

With the iPad now being used on aircraft and popular Enigma EFIS has a new V10 radio interface, pilots can get tips and tricks on digital panels and radio operation. Additionally, COM systems such as the Lynx and Flycom systems are important interfaces for the radio. Along with a complete array of GPS systems, the iPad is being used for flight and its practical use can be discussed. With the wealth of information and experiences this is a valuable resource for all pilots flying trikes.

Maybe I am thinking of the upgrade, and not the OS system. I am going to send my Enigma and SD card to Matt so he can take a look and make sure nothing is wrong with it as the texture screens don't work most of the time. He said the SD card may need to be reformatted, He said he would do both for free.

I spoke to Matt about upgrading my Mk1 Enigma, but it will cost me $500, so I am not going to worry about it right now. He said it was mostly dealing with the screen brightness anyway. Hey Abid, I will contact Matt and ask him about getting the V10 and harness for the Revo. Is there a big difference over the Revo harness and the FLYCOM harness that I would need for my helmets? Thanks Paul and Abid for the insight.

Paul: Is everything else good also with the new release. Like Microsoft I tend to wait a month or two on Enigma OS upgrades :). I'll wait a month or so. Would like to know what you find

    Howie,
A direct connection into the V10 is optimum for simplicity and as Abid said, get the harness when you order the radio.

Have just updated this group to include the COM system since this is such an important interface with the radio systems.

    ENIGMA NOTICE.
I just upgraded my Enigma to the latest version and the Attitude screen is damped down and usable. Awesome. I upgraded it BEFORE I gave Matt a call AGAIN to bug him to fix it, and it was fixed.

Howie, V10 works well with Flycom helmets you have using its own internal intercom. It needs some settings but I can guide you through those once you have the radio installed. Ask Matt to get you the V10 with Revo/Flycom specific wiring harness we use. Although this combination is good as Herman told you, there is no better combination than using Flycom helmets with Flycom intercom with a proper patch cord to the radio and turning off radio's internal intercom. That is the quietest you are going to get.
I have in 5 years of using and recommending Flycom system only heard negatives from 2 people. One is Paul Hamilton but he tried using it with a handheld. The other is former California dealer and a nice guy and generally knowledgeable who thought that Comtronics was in fact better than Flycom. I am not sure what happened there but I can assure you the sky will be neon pink the day Comtronics is in fact better than Flycom or Lynx.

    Howie,
I had the Enigma and an Icom radio which was promlematic because of the RF from the Enigma. The V10 solved this problem. Additionally, when I first installed it I have the Lynx system with the radio/power interface, and it sounded bad. I lived with it a day and called Matt and he had me tuurn off the V10 intercom system and it sounds gtreat only going through one. Bottom line, I think you would be very happy using the V10 radio with the enigma and the customer support is very good for each individual situation, at least it was for me.

Howie, still early days with my new Revo but first impressions are the combination Enigma and V10 is a natural and easy combination to use. The quick slaving of the frequency from Enigma to V10 is very handy and the sound quality is very good. The Flycom helmets are outstanding.
