I need a pair of main gear tires for my Tukan project. Which tires are recommended, ribbed or smooth?

In light of the fact that I got no replies I went with the ribbed. They were less expensive!

For race cars, I hear that smooth tires are preferred in dry weather because they give slightly better traction because more rubber is on the road. But when it rains, racers switch to ribbed tires. The ribs give water someplace to go so the tires are less likely to hydroplane - losing all grip on the road. For us, I don't think it matters since we most of us don't fly in the wet. Nor is tire grip that big a deal at the speeds we land. I've never had my tires skid. Except when landding on dewy grass. But no amount of ribbing will help with that. Upshot: your ribbed tires are just fine.

Thanks for the comment. I had ribbed on my last trike and put about 200 hours on it with no problems.
